Truth Behind Blogger Loops

I recently took part in a blogger loop giveaway to see whether or not they are worth the investment. I’m sure many of you have seen one pop up on your timeline but for those who are still confused, a loop giveaway is when (too many) bloggers /Youtubers /Celebs team up and tell people to follow each other for an attempt to win prizes. This can be a great way to gain followers and get more eyes on your content BUT, If you are considering doing one I would advise you to save your money. Here is why:

  1. People are only following you for the giveaway, not your content. You want followers who appreciate the hard work that goes into each photo. Those will come from “choosing” to follow you because they like what you post, not just to win a prize.
  2. You will gain a lot of followers AND spam accounts. Most will not engage with your future posts and having a high follower count with low engagement will look bad. You shouldn’t have 100k followers and get less than 1k likes on each post. Companies rather see good engagement despite your follower count.
  3. Most accounts will unfollow you once the giveaway ends despite the scare tactic “All unfollowers will be banned from winning future giveaways”..lets be real, you can’t track all those people. So whats the real benefit of a Loop anymore? You are better off hosting your own giveaway to create engagement with your followers or team up with 3 or 4 similar bloggers, not 30+.

Create great content and you will grow.
